A grounded form with quiet strength.
The Lowther Brown Amphora Planter draws from ancient vessel design, reinterpreted through a sculptural lens. Its warm brown stoneware body is deliberately weighty, with a soft matte finish that captures natural texture without gloss or sheen. The amphora silhouette — marked by its elongated neck, twin loop handles, and rounded base — gives presence to empty spaces, while holding faux florals or dried stems with ease.
For the shelves, for the floors, for the layered corners of lived-in rooms — it’s a planter that resists decoration, made to be part of the architecture around it.
Dimensions: 26L x 26W x 42H cm
Material: Stoneware – Unglazed brown ceramic with coarse-textured, natural matte finish

▸ Unearthed from the Lowland
The amphora form draws from early Iron Age pottery excavated across Britain’s lowland river valleys. Its softened silhouette recalls the domestic utility vessels uncovered in the Flag Fen dig site — functional, minimal, and enduring.
▸ Raw Tactility, No Glaze Required
Crafted in thick brown stoneware with no artificial sheen, the surface invites a closer look. Its unglazed body carries the rawness of earth-fired clay, creating an intentionally coarse texture that aligns with brutalist material honesty.
▸ Form That Holds the Room
Ideal for dried twigs, feather-leaf stems, or nothing at all — this is a planter designed as a sculptural object first. Its twin handles serve as visual anchors, balancing presence whether placed alone or layered into a corner scene.
▸ Structured Layering
This tall amphora planter is the anchoring form within the Lowther series, composed to be styled in graduated proportion with the Lowther compact amphora planter and the Lowther rimmed stoneware planter. All three are cast in tonal brown stoneware, their shared material and distinct profiles creating a layered, sculptural rhythm across shelves. Complete the composition with the Brackenwell autumn white faux hydrangea stem—its soft pink tone offsets the earthy surface and heightens the visual contrast.
