Reimagining Brutalism for the Home

At Christies Interior, we believe design should be more than decorative — it should be intentional. We specialise in soft-brutalist homeware, a balance of sculptural form and natural texture. Contrasting solid architectural elements, softened by natural Scandinavian detail, our pieces bring decorative balance into everyday living spaces.

From stoneware planters to sculptural vases and faux florals, every object is chosen for its form, tactility, and presence. Our philosophy is simple: purposeful design, built to last, made to feel.

Quiet Design for Every Room

Growing into a studio recognised for timeless, material-led design.

Our designs take inspiration from the meeting point of structure and life. From the concrete terraces of the Barbican to Tadao Ando’s softened minimalism, brutalist forms show their quiet beauty when touched by light, greenery, and time. Architects like Lina Bo Bardi remind us that raw materials can feel human when nature is invited in — a balance we echo in our stoneware.

Every object we choose is guided by material first. Stoneware, ceramic, and glass each bring their own weight, tactility, and finish — qualities we refine rather than disguise. We look for surfaces that feel lived-in from the start: matte glazes, natural variations, and textures that echo architecture shaped by time. This attention to material means our pieces aren’t just decorative; they are built to endure, to be handled, and to age with quiet integrity in the spaces they belong.

We believe styling should feel effortless. Our vases, planters, and florals are designed to work in quiet balance with one another — grounding a hallway console, softening a dining table, or adding sculptural height to a living room. By layering textures, tones, and forms, we create arrangements that echo architecture: structured, but softened by the life that grows around them. Each piece is versatile on its own, but together they shape a home.

Who We Are

Christies Interior began from frustration — a rejection of mass-market design and the culture of overconsumption that strips objects of intention, personality, and care for the planet. I wanted to create an alternative: a studio where design is led by material, storytelling, and purpose.

My love for brutalism shaped that vision. I’ve always been drawn to its unloved character — the irregular textures, the way weather marks concrete with time. But I also felt it needed softening. On my travels I noticed how stone and ceramic vessels, often seen indoors, could feel sculptural yet human. Pairing these forms with florals came naturally: contrasting, but balanced — the essence of eco-brutalism, or what I call soft brutalism.

My background in product design taught me the principles of ergonomics, materials, and how things are made. Branding and storytelling showed me how design takes on meaning once placed in a setting. Both perspectives now shape Christies Interior — where stoneware, ceramics, and florals are curated not just for their form, but for the story they carry.

I believe good design should feel solid, honest, and enduring, with no corners cut. I also believe homes, however small, should represent personality. My grandmother’s one-bed flat in Brighton was proof of that: crammed with thousands of objects, each with a story, together forming a portrait of her chaotic, beautiful character. That memory inspires me to build a studio where every object has the same power — to reflect the person who lives with it.

Christies Interior stands as an independent alternative to mass retail: a place to find intentional design, where personality meets material, and every piece has presence and purpose.
